- on saturday, august 9, michael brown was shot and killed by a police officer for jaywalking in ferguson, mo.
- the police have refused to take the statement of the number one eyewitness to the crime, though he has continuously made himself available to do the same through his attorney.
- police attacked peaceful citizens who had gathered at a candlelight vigil to grieve and seek solidarity, firing teargas and rubber bullets and arresting folks who didn't disperse "fast enough."
- the police began arresting journalists covering the story, flashing lights toward their cameras so they couldn't capture the image and firing teargas at them.
- police began confiscating camera equipment from the journalists.
- on friday, almost a week after the murder had been committed, the police department released the name of the officer.
- at the same time, they released what appear to be stills taken from security footage of a man who resembles brown grabbing at a shorter, smaller white man, allegedly as brown was fleeing a convenience store after shoplifting a box of cigars.
- the police department admitted that at the time the shooting officer did not believe brown was connected to the shoplifting; this means they released the security camera stills to prejudice public opinion against brown and to get us to forget that the officer shot the boy because he jaywalked.
