How to wear a tuxedo before 5 p.m.

so, i'm prepping me wardrobe for an extended gallivant, and naturally i'm turning to The Heiress for ideas on sassy, classy to keep me from looking assy.*

     * :/

presently, i'm fixating on this simple outfit:

The Heiress

super simple—with lots of elements that can be traded easily into other looks, the better for compact packing—but very different from the average tourist. and prrty.

The Rest of Us

so far i have this ASOS's blouse with lace trims and delicate pintucks in cream, $61.09

which i think is just the prettiest ever. i'll wear it over a nude or cream tank.

the pants? i'm still working on, though i have my eye on Old Navy's women's The Rock Star zip-pocket skinny pants in lively ivy, $25.00

because i really like zippers and think these would actually be truly skinny pants, but i'm unsure. i may hunt a little further for a true gray tuxedo skinny pant.

either way, i love what the mustard shoe does to the whole thing, and i already have my Ann Taylor Loft Flynn satin ballet flats in spicy mustard, $26.70

but i'm thinking hunting down something in a similar color in a more forgiving fabric will make me happier after ten-hour days of tromping around dusty sites and riding bikes.

Olive not-so-drab

one of my absolute favorite outfits on the heiress and the rest of us. so casual but undeniably elegant and fashionable. and incorporating many trends without playing the fashion victim. i would *so* wear this.

The Heiress

The Rest of Us:
Blu Pepper faux leather–sleeve utility jacket in olive, $68.00

AnnaKastle new women's pleated placket long-sleeve oversized chiffon blouse shirt in white, $36.90

Raleigh Carryall Large Top Double Handles Office Tote Shopper Hobo Handbag Satchel Purse Shoulder Bag in khaki, $28.50

Old Navy Rock-Star pop-color jeans in heliotrope, $29.50

(oh my gosh, people, you don't even UNDERSTAND how long i have been looking for this shoe. sure, a simple pointy-toed bow pump in bone exists, but for, like, a cool $450.00. lorda. i am buying this RIGHT. NOW.)
